PRESS STATEMENT
AUGUST 1, 2012
THE ARREST OF RAFIZI RAMLI
I condemn the arrest of Parti Keadilan’s Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli, this morning. The arrest is politically motivated with the purpose to silence a man exposing scandal after scandal involving those controlling Putrajaya presently.
I am convinced that his arrest is related to the National Feedlot Corporation(NFC) and George Kent — which has just been awarded the Ampang LRT-extension contract.
By exposing continuously these scandals for months, he has built powerful enemies and now they are using what is at their disposal.
This is Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Razak’s personal vendetta being played out by the various government agencies.
The charge against Rafizi under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act (BAFIA) is only a smokescreen to put fear into the hearts of Malaysians trying to unearth the truth behind contracts and cronyism involving Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.
I commend Rafizi and the courage he has shown, and to his family I ask them to bear through these hard times and remember that social justice will prevail in the end.
