Tamil Schools in Selangor Achieved the Best UPSR 2013 Results – Congratulations to All

 

The latest UPSR (Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah) results shows tremendous improvement in the Tamil schools (SJKT) in Selangor. Based on the results, SJKT in Selangor have achieved the best in country compared to SJKT in other states.

SJKT Simpang Lima, Klang is the top school in the country and two of the students have topped the state list. The top five SJKT with 7As:

1)      SJKT Simpang Lima, Klang, Selangor – 63 students with 7As

2)      SJKT Kajang, Selangor – 28 students with 7As

3)      SJKT Batu Caves, Selangor – 25 students with 7As

4)      SJKT Puchong Batu 14, Selangor – 24 students with 7As

5)      SJKT Rawang, Selangor – 22 students with 7As

The overall pass rate of 62.3 percent is the best till now. 398 students got 7As, an increase from 321 last year.

Pakatan Rakyat has proved that with a little bit of funding, help from the state, we have worked tirelessly with four NGO namely Tamil Foundation, EWRF (Education, Welfare & Research Foundation), (Child Information, Learning and Development Centre) and HYO (Hindu Youth Council), including the PIBG (Persatuan Ibubapa dan Guru) who have worked together to bring about this change.

I must sincerely put on record the work done by the Head Masters and teachers without whom this would not have happened. Syabas and terima kasih.

Lastly to all the parents and Old Boys Associations of these schools, give yourselves a pat on the back, we must now look forward to improve. Let’s put our hands together for a better and brighter future for our children.

Selangor Exco Files Police Report Against Accusers

Selangor exco Xavier Jayakumar lodged a police report at Klang police station this morning, claiming several individuals had made a baseless and false allegations against him.

The report was made against Klang's Parents Teachers Association chairperson, G Jeganathan.

He also named former Selangor PKR treasurer, KS Kotappan, in the report.

NGO: Dana dibelanjakan Untuk Pendidikan Tamil

Tiga pertubuhan bukan kerajaan, (NGO) yang dituduh menerima peruntukkan RM 1.58 juta daripada kerajaan Selangor mendakwa dana berkenaan telah digunakan bagi pembangunan pendidikan Tamil di negeri itu.

Tiga NGO itu adalah ialah Pusat Maklumat, Pembelajaran dan Pembangunan Kanak-kanak (Child), Yayasan Tamil Malaysia dan Yayasan Pendidikan, Kebajikan dan Penyelidikan Tamil (EWRF).

Ahad lalu, Pengerusi, Persatuan Ibu bapa Klang, G Jeganathan membuat laporan polis terhadap exco Selangor, Dr Xavier Jeyakumar menyeleweng wang berkenaan dengan menyalurkannya kepada tiga NGO berkenaan.

Penyelaras program pembangunan sekolah Tamil bagi ketiga-tiga Ngo itu, K Arumugam pada sidang medianya mengakui mereka menerima wang berkenaan daripada kerajaan negeri.

NGO Nafi Seleweng Peruntukan, Bidas Tuduhan PIBG

Badan-badan bukan kerajaan yang dilantik untuk menguruskan pembangunan sekolah-sekolah Tamil di Selangor nafi mereka telah menyeleweng peruntukan kerajaan negeri.

Tiga NGO terbabit – Pusat Pembangunan Pendidikan Maklumat Anak-Anak (CHILD), Yayasan Kajiselidik dan Kebajikan Pendidikan (EWRF) dan Yayasan Tamil – membidas tuduhan Persatuan Ibu-Bapa dan Guru (PIBG) Klang dalam satu sidang akhbar semalam.

"Kami mengaku telah menerima RM1.588 juta dar Kerajaan Selangor. Dan kami bangga dengan kepercayaan yang diberikan," kata koordinator program untuk NGO, K.Arumugam.

Slow Learner Project in Tamil schools

The Slow Learner Project (SLP) is one of the many programmes that is being funded by the State Government and carried out by NGO's in Tamil schools statewide. If we were to simple give the RM 4 million directly to PIBG and School Boards we will not achieve the long-term goal of developing students and helping them to break the cycle of poverty they live in.

Slow Learner Project (SLP)

b. Objectives of project

· To encourage, inspire and facilitate slow learners to gain interest in reading and writing through fun learning using modules specially prepared for the purpose.

· To enable the slow learners to be able to read and write and join the mainstream within 3 to 6 months in the programme.

· Children from less privileged backgrounds realize their inherent potential.
