I am thrilled at the latest developments in Perak. . . .
"The Perak state assembly's special privileges committee today suspended the state's newly-minted menteri besar Zambry Abdul Kadir and all his six executive councillors.
The decision was announced by Perak state assembly speaker V Sivakumar after the committee's inquiry proceeding in Ipoh this afternoon.
Zambry was slapped with an 18-month suspension while the excos have been suspended for 12 months.
Sivakumar, a DAP state assemblyperson, is still the Perak speaker as the BN government has yet to convene the state assembly to replace him with one of their own
Technically this means that Pakatan Rakyat can take back control of the state

This evening, we have received the most unfortunate news, that 2 PKR reps (ADUNs) from Perak have tendered their resignation via fax to the Perak Dewan Speaker. This would be a double by-election in Perak within the next 60 days.
The past few days have been rife with the reports of possible defects by both YB Jamaluddin Mar Radzi (ADUN Behrang) and YB Osman bin Jailu (ADUN Changkat Jering). Following their incommunicado status the past 3 days. Both these individuals are the same people who were embroiled in the perak "corruption scandal", where they were caught with cash. (pic courtesy of Malaysiakini)PKR is first of all very optimistic that we will maintain our grasp on those two seats in Perak. The by-election in KT only goes to show that the Malaysian people have had enough of BN's high-handed and unscrupulous tactics. And they want CHANGE !!
The statement released by the Perhubungan Negeri Perak, Hj Osman Abdul Rahman (who is a good friend of mine), is equally strongly worded.
"
Dari awal lagi kami amat yakin pertuduhan dalam kes tersebut adalah satu pertuduhan palsu yang direkacipta oleh UMNO dan BN sebagai satu ugutan politik""Kami percaya ada usaha-usaha oleh BN untuk memujuk dua EXCO ini untuk menyertai BN dan sebagai imbuhan terdesak Dato Seri Najib termasuk mengugurkan kes rasuah mereka"
". . . .(we wish that the 2 leaders are safe). . and hold strong to our principles and resolve. . . .
I think Hj Osman's statement says it all. . . . .

SACKING OF PERAK TENGAH DISTRICT COUNCILLOR
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (KeADILan) welcomes and fully supports the decision by the Perak state government to sack Perak Tengah district councillor Zul Hassan.
Zul Hassan, who is under probe by ACA, had not only issued a statement confessing to illicit sex, but also justified his action by saying that he was induced into committing the immoral act.
Such a statement makes a mockery of Pakatan Rakyat's pledge towards a government that respects the trust of the people.
The Perak government's swift action shows its seriousness in putting into practice Pakatan Rakyat's commitment to ensure that morality and ethics are upheld by those in public offices and not merely expressed in words.
Towards that end, Zul Hassan will be dealt with by Keadilan's disciplinary committee and will have to explain the remark, when he made comparison of his inability to succumb to temptation to someone who is being offered "sedekah" (charity).
It is important that good conduct comes from the top in order to set an example for the younger generations. As such, we fully back the action taken on Zul Hassan and will support whatever action taken in future as and when there is enough evidence of wrongful conduct.
Once again, we reiterate our uncompromising stand that any wrongdoing by any office holder, without regard to party affiliation or post, should not be tolerated and dealt with severely.
Meanwhile we wish to confirm that Mohammad Imran Abdullah also mentioned in the said scandal is not a member of Keadilan. (End)

A thorough, transparent and professionally conducted investigation into the matter is the only way we can ascertain whether the bounds of the law have been transgressed.
The manner in which the arrest has taken place indicates the possibility that the individuals involved may have been victims of entrapment. The timing of this incident also gives reason to suspect a political motive given our close proximity to the by-election in Permatang Pauh. Furthermore the swiftness of the ACA's action is wholly inconsistent with its handling of a number of other cases involving graft, including the much speculated Labuan case.
We hope the ACA would show the same degree of efficiency and enthusiasm with its investigations involving members of the Barisan Nasional.
The allegations of graft and influence peddling are among the most serious concerns of the Pakatan Rakyat and we have made substantial progress towards eliminating the vast amounts of corruption inherited from previous administrations. For example the Pakatan Rakyat governments have implemented open-tenders for government contracts, saving hundreds of millions of taxpayer Ringgit.
If the investigation proves that alleged misconduct did in fact occur in this matter then Keadilan and our partners in the Pakatan Rakyat will take swift action against those involved in any impropriety consistent with our commitment to good governance, transparency and accountability.
